ThinIdentity replaces cumbersome PC desktops with efficient Sun Microsystems Sun Rays for displaying virtual desktops. The Sun Ray terminals are an affordable, secure, and simple solution for healthcare facilities. They differ from complex PCs and other thin client devices because they have no local operating system (such as Windows XP Embedded) to manage and administer, no disk drive, and no memory. Sun Microsystems offers three different types of Sun Rays:

What is a Smart Card?

ThinIdentity Smart Card

The ThinIdentity solution is generally configured to work with smart cards.  A smart card is a plastic card about the same size as a credit card that stores a unique identifier per card.  When a card is inserted into a Sun Ray terminal, ThinIdentity instantly associates the identity of the card with the identity of authorized user, and will quickly show the user logon screen with the user name already pre-populated.  All the user now needs to do is enter their password and they will have instant access to their desktop.
