Denver, Colo., July 27, 2009 — ThinIdentity Corporation, a leader in improving caregiver workflow in healthcare environments, today announced that Alegent Health is moving forward with plans to implement the ThinIdentity solution throughout its healthcare system. The first installation is located at its Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A 278-bed facility, Mercy Hospital has over 1,000 caregivers using the ThinIdentity solution to improve their day-to-day workflow and thereby strengthen the quality of patient care.
“We are improving our efficiency and getting a significant amount of time back in our day with ThinIdentity,” said Barbara Roenfeld, Mercy Hospital operations director for the emergency department. “We have almost instant access to patient data right at the bedside which helps us to have more meaningful patient discussions.” Mercy Hospital’s Emergency Department implemented physician order entry and online documentation within the last 60 days, and Roenfeld noted that “the instant access to patient data was significant in a successful implementation and ongoing adoption by physicians.”
Alegent Health is the largest not-for-profit, faith-based healthcare system in Nebraska and southwestern Iowa, with nine acute care hospitals, more than 100 sites of service, over 1,300 physicians on its medical staff, and roughly 9,000 employees. Alegent Health is ranked first in the country in quality and patient satisfaction according to the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement (NRHI). The ThinIdentity solution is a key component in its continuing effort to improve patient quality of care.
“Our goal with the ThinIdentity solution was not about technology,” said Troy Hottovy, Alegent operations leader in technology management. “We wanted to enhance the patient experience by improving our workflow so that caregivers could spend more time with patients and get the data they needed very quickly. ThinIdentity did this for us, cutting the caregiver log-in time from often times minutes to just seconds — a great productivity gain. We are also very happy that we decreased our desktop energy costs by over 70% as well as support costs while improving security.” Hottovy plans to standardize on the ThinIdentity solution and will begin rolling out the solution in the remaining four Alegent Health emergency departments in the Omaha metro area and completing another entire hospital over the next six months.
Installation of ThinIdentity is being finalized at Alegent Health Lakeside Hospital’s emergency department. “Alegent Health is at the forefront of information technology initiatives and the ThinIdentity technology is widespread throughout the system and its use is increasing daily,” said Diane Marsh, operating director of Lakeside Hospital emergency services. “The technology has enabled our focus of patient-centered healthcare to flourish.”
ThinIdentity is driving the change from PCs to stateless thin clients using groundbreaking technology that solves workflow and technology problems that have hindered healthcare providers for years. With ThinIdentity, caregivers have near-instant access to patient data at the bedside, thereby improving clinician efficiency and overall patient care. ThinIdentity also dramatically decreases the costs for IT departments to deliver healthcare services while helping to drive the “meaningful use” of Electronic Medical Records (“EMR”) initiatives.
“We are dedicated to helping healthcare organizations improve caregiver workflow, resulting in better patient care,” said Joe Jaudon, ThinIdentity founder and chief technology officer. “Caregiver needs have always been at the forefront of our solution and the ThinIdentity solution was designed specifically to meet these requirements.”

ThinIdentity Corp., a new Denver-based technology company, has launched a solution that will change the way doctors and nurses care for patients. The ThinIdentity solution improves workflow by providing reliable, near-instant access to electronic information. Standard computer log on times can stretch to minutes.
The ThinIdentity solution allows for seamless smooth-roaming and consistent access to data within seconds, from any location.
“We know first-hand the technology challenges caregivers face. When one considers that most caregivers log on to a PC and applications over 50 times per day, and each log on can take at 30 seconds to a few minutes, we’re giving doctors and nurses a significant amount of time back in their days,” said Joe Jaudon, founder and chief technology officer, ThinIdentity Corp. “Not only are we improving the efficiency and effectiveness of today’s healthcare providers, but we’re also allowing for near-instant access to patient data at the bedside, reducing clinical errors and improving overall patient care.”
By replacing hospital PCs with stateless thin-client terminals connected to a ThinIdentity Synchronizer, doctors and nurses can quickly insert a smart card and in seconds from anywhere in the hospital, they are logged on to their own unique desktop, with access to locationappropriate applications. ThinIdentity simplifies a caregiver’s workflow by dynamically updating policy, content and location specific functionality such as printing as a doctor or nurse moves
to a new location in the hospital.
For hospital IT managers, ThinIdentity delivers a centralized, standardized desktop environment for application delivery, dynamic software updates and tighter security. This results in a more efficient infrastructure that reduces operational and environmental costs. Additionally, because ThinIdentity terminals are stateless thin-clients, each terminal can be deployed in minutes and have a useful life of more than 10 years.
